What’s cooking? Mr Magz and I are cooking!
Here’s an interesting fact, a study of 32 families between 2001 and 2004, UCLA researchers found that happy couples share responsibilities and house chores together resulting in a happy and healthy relationship.
Another reason to cook together (once in a while is ok too) is that it’s the perfect opportunity to turn up the slow jams! The process of planning, cooking, and eating together allows you to slow down and actually pay attention to your partner, where’re you really enjoy his or her company.
According to a psychologist John Gottman, relationship success lies in whether you’re on the same page or not.
Yesterday, was a quite Sunday afternoon. Kids were busy with studying for their tests with their tutors, I was busy cleaning the house and Mr Magz was busy doing our grocery shopping for the week. Usually I’m the one who does it but today Mr. Magz decided he wanted to do it. When he came back he said “Babe, I’m cooking today”. My first reaction was “Let’s cook together! I’d so love to help you out!”.
And so, we cooked together a healthy dinner for the family. Mr Magz prepared Ukrainian style turkey kotleti with cheese stuffing and I made a healthy salad and fried potatoes with garlic.
Most of the time Ukrainian Kotleti are made with either beef or pork but Mr Magz suggested we try organic turkey kotleti with cheese stuffing because the meat is much more tender and light and the melted mozzarella cheese makes the kotleti more juicier.
We were all starving when the dinner was served. Kids gobbled up the plate of the tender turkey patties, Ukrainian style potatoes with garlic and an American style healthy green salad. By the time I finished I was ready to take my cat nap. ?ﾟﾒﾤ? LOL
1 lb ground organic turkey
3/4 cup – 1 cup gluten free tortilla
1/3 – 1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons sour cream
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 small onion, grated
Place the tortilla in a bowl and top with milk. The milk should just cover the tortilla. Let it stand for a few minutes, just until the milk is absorbed by the tortilla. Combine all the ingredients mentioned above in a bowl.
With moistened hands, shape into oval patties. The meat texture should be tender.
In a In a nonstick skillet, heat 1 – 1 1/2 Tablespoons of oil and add the kotleti to the skillet. Make a hollow space inside the kotleti and add mozzarella chess then cover the cheese with the kotleti.
Cover the skillet and cook on a medium heat. Prep time should be around 10 min, cook time 20 min and overall time 30 min.
