Visiting The Lion Habitat Ranch in Henderson, Las Vegas, NV..

My Isabella was about 5 years old when I took her and her siblings, Katrina and John, to LA Zoo. That was the very first time Isabella laid eyes on a lion and that was it … she was in love! Ever since that day she has been obsessing over the big cats whether it’s a lion or a tiger. Mr Magz and I have been buying anything we can find for Isabella that’s tiger/ lion related item whether it’s a tiger print backpack, lion t-shirt, lion-cartoon character bed sheets and the list goes on!

And so, while we were in Las Vegas I discovered this hidden gem –The Lion Habitat Ranch in Henderson, Las Vegas.

This place is one of a kind. Hearing and seeing lions up close is unlike any experience on this earth.  Definitely once in a life time experience! There are 47 big cats there with a new addition of a one-year old Giraffe, Ozzie, from Kansas and is said to be the first one to reside in Nevada.

We actually had the chance to meet Bentley and Swifty (9 years old). The images shown above are Bentley and Swift. They are 550 lbs lions and are the great-great grandsons of the movie star “Leo The Lion”. Leo was the mascot for the Hollywood film studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and one of its predecessors, Goldwyn Pictures, featured in the studio’s production logo, which was created by the Paramount Studios art director Lionel S. Reiss.

There were two lion cubs named “Dude” and “Marina”! Marina was actually named after me… Just kidding! Wishful thinking!

We also had the opportunity to feed and pet Ozzie, the most lovable and adorable giraffe. That was Katrina’s, Isabella’s and John’s highlight of the visit. See the photos below.
