Modern Day Jewelry Style Statement – Pearls
I have always loved pearls ever since I can remember but recety I have been literally obsessing over them!
For my 13th anniversary my husband surprised me with pearl jewelry ranging from white pearls and pink pearls to corful pastel pearls. It is widely known that the best pearls in the world are Mikimoto gems and come from Japan however, nowadays they sell affordable freshwater cultured pearls from China.
Pearls may seem so old-fashion but it’s making a huge come back and it’s currently on every fashionista’s radar making an appearance on celebrities of all ages symbolizing a fashion statement, chastity, purity and a feminine charm.
Some of the iconic and fabulous women who made pearls their style statement include Cleopatra, Queen Elizabeth I and II, Coco Chanel, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie O, Madonna, Michelle Obama, Kate Moss and the list goes on.
Nowadays, pearl jewelry trend can also be modernized just like the wardrobe fashion. You can keep your pearls up to date and not look like a grandma.
Here’s one of my casual street style looks that I paired with a strand of white pearl necklace for a touch of class and a modern day glam. I selected a cute polka-dot shirt with white jeans and red heels finalizing the look with one of my favorite 1960’s Christian Dior sunglasses, platinum Rolex and my three studs earrings. For a pop of color, I carried my new Kate Spate hot pink purse and it’s from her Spring/Summer 2015 Collection.
Some of the ways to modernize your pearls for a daily wear.
- Wear pearls in denim and a casual t-shirt with high heels to look ultra chic. Nope, you don’t have to wear it with a suit.
- Mix and match your strand of pearls by layering it with a stylish wrap-around sterling silver or a gold chain. Make sure that the pearl strand is shorter and closer to your neck than the silver/ gold chain.
- Pearl arm party can be also paired with something fun, such as a watch or silver/ gold bangles.
Remember, if you want to take the formality away from your modernized pearl look don’t pair it with pearl earrings, pearl bracelets or a pearl ring.
One more thing, since I love reading facts so much here’s one that I’d like to share with you and it’s about pearls.
The oldest surviving pearl necklace was found in the sarcophagus of a Persian Princess who died in 520 B.C. and is currently displayed in the Louvre, Paris.
