First Day of Cal State University of Northridge.
Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family. ” ~Kofi Annan
The school bell may stop ringing, but summer is a great time for all kinds of learning opportunities for kids.
Each year during their summer break my children Katrina, Isabella and John attend California State University of Northridge for their summer school enrichment program. What I love about this program is that it focuses on child’s development and growth through exciting, hands-on academic and enrichment activities. I really like the fact that it’s only half a day. This way they have a free time to enjoy the rest of the day at home with their family.
I understand why parents want their kids to take a break from school during their summer break and recharge their batteries. However, as a parent of three, I think it’s essential that children attend summer school for at least half a day or couple days a week. Not only summer school beats the heat but it also gives children a head start. It’s a good way for students to enhance their learning. Children usually tend to get lazy over the summer and forget some of the things they’ve learned over the main school year. I think summer school helps kids with keeping their brain fresh and it also keeps the learning cycle going.
On the first day of university, my children were super excited to go back to meet with their friends from the previous year and some of their favorite teachers.
Here are some of the photos I took in the morning before the school started.
After school we stopped by the campus cafe and grabbed lunch and drinks to celebrate the first day of CSUN. Cheers to Summer Break 2015!
